Celestie Parmar, MA. Can.

Intern

As a therapist, I strive to create a collaborative, client-centred, and culturally responsive space where you feel safe sharing your experiences, challenges, and goals. I believe that you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to work alongside you as a teammate, helping you learn new perspectives, practical tools, and skills as you navigate change. My curiosity drives my practice, and I aim to provide a warm, sincere, and nurturing presence so that you can feel confident to create meaningful change.

I hold the view that there are multiple dimensions to a person, with the past being just as important as the present. I hope to help you understand the past and how it may impact your thoughts, relational patterns, and emotions that influence your daily life. Rather than trying to “fix” problems, I aim to help you develop greater self-awareness, understand yourself without shame, and reclaim agency. I believe that insight is an important part of healing, but meaningful change happens when it is balanced with action.

I am currently completing my MA in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University, and I also have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Booth University. I am interested in working with people who may be navigating cultural identity, intergenerational family dynamics, women’s issues, and boundary setting.

Growing up between cultures has deepened my empathy for people balancing different expectations, identities, and ways of seeing the world. My experiences reinforce the importance of creating a space where clients feel seen, validated, and understood. My approach is integrative, drawing from psychodynamic theory, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, mindfulness, and person-centred principles. I hope to work collaboratively to explore patterns shaped by your experiences, identify strengths, create practical goals, and build skills that align with the life you want to live.
